Catholics Can Consume Consecrated Corpus with Care!
Recently, the Vatican issued a reprimand of 2 Argentinian bishops who deprived the faithful in their dioceses of the canonical right to receive Holy Communion while kneeling. While that is something one would not EXPECT to hear ordinarily, it is sadly a sign of the times in the modern era of sacramental Christianity. Ever since the accursed "council" in the 1960's, the Roman Church's modern proclivities towards sacrilege have sadly infected the other sacramental churches as well; in the spirit of ecumenism, of course. Yes, rather than being bold in tradition and liturgical worship, our churches have abandoned centuries old practices and observances, in favor of the new and innovative concepts of faith; which are ever-changing and never the same from day to day.
There is an old Latin expression which says "Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi" or "As you pray, so you believe". If we do not worship the Lord with respect, with honor, and with dignity; what does that say of our faith in him? The liturgy of the church is not a time to get together and happy-clappy dance about the sanctuary; but a solemn observance of that which Christ himself mandated to his apostles at the last supper and beyond. We are not at the Mass to have fun, we are there to present ourselves, our souls, our entire being; in thanksgiving and praise of the God who has created us and given us all that we have. In communion, we receive the true presence of Christ, made manifest for us in holy mystery; concealed under the guise of bread and wine. But if we partake of this mystery with no concern, treating it like a mere snack and presuming to handle it ourselves without care; what does this say of our belief in what it is? Remember Christian- this is not just some THING you are receiving, but some BODY. This simple consecrated host IS the ever-abiding true presence that Christ promised to us in the sacraments he so wonderfully gifted to us through his church. Receiving communion on the tongue while kneeling, is the most efficacious and spiritually nourishing manner of receiving communion, not because it is "the only way", but because it enforces by physical discipline to our minds, the remembrance that this is the true body and blood of our Divine Lord.
It remains to be seen as of yet, if Rome will also crack down on the flower child of the council in Charlotte, NC for the same offenses; however one never knows. Remember my friends, when you partake of the Holy Communion, it is Christ you are receiving; so do so with dignity, with honor, and with love and devotion for who it is that you are welcoming into your heart and body.
