Repugnant: Rowe Refuses Refugees for Wrong Racial Roots
Yesterday the news broke that the US Episcopal Church had refused to assist in the resettlement of 59 refugees from South Africa. Of course the media and the church are making an incredibly big fuss over the situation in general, and there is no headline about the refugees that fails to mention that they are WHITE South Africans. My first gripe with the situation is that this is the only time in the entire saga of refugees BS over the last 10 years that the Media have been not at all discreet in labeling an ethnic group of refugees entirely by their skin color. Can you imagine the outrage if they had reported articles over previous years about "Black Haitians", or "Latino Mexicans" as refugees? The liberal world's heads would have exploded in fury. But yes, because the South African group are ethnically pale-skinned, the press has no qualms at all about just labeling them "white".
Secondly, I hesitated responding to the Episcopal Church's refusal to assist until I knew what their justifications were, and... It's morally outrageous. The Presiding Bishop of the American Episcopal Church literally said that they were unable to assist in this because of their "dedication to racial justice and reconciliation". In short, he publicly stated that the church was outraged and refused to assist them simply because they were not the right racial pedigree to warrant the Episcopal Church's favor. He went on further to express that they were angry that these people should be granted entrance to the United States, while other refugees in other places are still waiting to be processed for the same. With all due respect to the Presiding Bishop and what little integrity he has, there are very few countries in the world that are as dangerous for people of a particular ethnicity as South Africa; apart from countries in the Middle East who despise Israelis/ Jews. The South African government publicly funds and encourages large scale demonstrations and rallies in which Black Afrikaners sing and chant and wear shirts with slogans; all about how they're going to kill the white people and wipe them out.
I have witnessed footage of international charity workers coming to the shanty towns where the white Afrikaners are forced to live, having been displaced from their own homes by the SA government; only for black Afrikaners who now live in those homes to ransack the shanty town and steal the food that was brought. And when the question is raised about what they should do or who they should complain to; the government arrests the white Afrikaners instead. Is this the "Racial Justice and Reconciliation" that Bishop Rowe is so keen to crow about before the press? Is it right that a church which claims to be the voice of the poor and underprivileged should be so supportive of promised genocide in the name of that bevy of bullshit?
I understand the Episcopal church's being upset with not being able to ferry millions of migrants around the country anymore and make massive profits in so doing, truly I do. However when you blatantly refuse to assist ANY group of refugees based on nothing more than their skin color, you prove yourselves to be nothing more than mere profiteers off the faith of Christ and the people of God. And to blame the refugees for what you call "blatant favoritism" on the part of politicians, is no better than blaming the woman when she is sexually assaulted.
It is at this point that I would invite the Episcopal Church to learn to do better and to truly fulfill their promises to embrace all people equally; however I know that they never will, for it was always an empty gesture that was never going to be fulfilled. It is this manner of mindset that Christ spoke to when he said: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess." (Matthew 23:5) A church which prides itself on the appearances of being "welcoming and inclusive", yet is neither to those who are most in need of it; is no church, but rather a social club with cassocks and pectoral crosses worn rather ironically.
The church itself as a whole needs to understand that there cannot be separate standards for people simply because of "racial justice". We can only hold people to the single standard of the Christian faith- Love of God and love of Neighbor. If we claim that we should favor one group over another because of skin color, or deny help to a group because we claim they aren't the 'right' skin color for our help; then we have lost the message of Christ's truth, and our salvation is in peril.
Love God, Love Neighbor. Leave your racial arguments at the door, for it has no place in the kingdom of God.
Here Endeth the Lesson.
