Hospitals and Hamas

 We hear it all too often in the ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict: "Hospitals must be protected!"  "An assault on a hospital is a war crime!!" 

One would ordinarily agree with that assessment; though such demands are only made against Israel for military strikes near hospitals in Gaza.  I would like to draw your attention to the destruction wrought at a hospital during this conflict- 



Examine these pictures well.  Take a moment to reflect on the destruction and devastation that has been inflicted on this hospital; and then ask yourself:  Who on earth would dare do such a thing to a hospital?  That's a war crime!

No, these photos are NOT from Gaza.  They are, in point of fact; pictures from the Barzilai Medical Center (hospital) in Ashkelon, Israel.  This hospital was struck by multiple rockets from Hamas in Gaza from October 7th to the 11th; far removed from the situation in Gaza.  Yet has the World community come together to condemn Hamas directly targeting a hospital full of civilians and medical professionals without cause?  Of course not.  The United Nations and "progressives" have already deemed Hamas and Gaza to be the victims in this entire tragedy, so anything that happens to Israel or its citizens is of no concern to them.  And if you are asking what the difference is between the bombing of the hospital in Ashkelon and the raids on hospitals in Gaza, it is this:  Hamas fires rockets indiscriminately, seeking to inflict as many civilian casualties and terror as possible.  On the other hand, Israel's forces have gone to extraordinary lengths in order to try to prevent as many civilian casualties as possible.    

When you have a terrorist organization which disguises its members as civilians so they can attack people and then disappear into a crown; stand on the rooftops of mosques, schools, churches, and hospitals and fire rockets at Israel: you have a group of people who are themselves solely responsible for the loss of life in their names.  Hamas WANTS civilians dead, so it can use their blood as the grease to slide Israel and all Jews in the Holy Land off the cliff into the abyss.   Hamas wants 'martyrs', so they can deceive their allies and foolish westerners; even if they have to kill the people themselves to do it. 

There is no justification for blaming Jews or Israel for what Hamas has begun and is continuing.  Rather, we should thank them for trying to put a stop to an evil more virulent and insidious than Adolf Hitler himself could ever have imagined.

The Commerce of Christ at Christmas?

  In just under a month, Christians will gather in crowded, candlelit churches on Christmas Eve to celebrate the great feast of our Savior's birth.  Recently, some clergy friends of mine have directed me to an interesting little thing that the Episcopal Church's National Cathedral in DC has decided to do for Christmas Eve this year.   Are they going to bring in the homeless so that they have a warm place to sleep that night?  No. Are they going to actually preach the Christ whom they are obliged to by the book of common prayer?  No. Are they going to charge people to attend Christmas Eve Mass and receive Christ?  YES! You heard that correctly, the National Cathedral in Washington, DC; has decided to CHARGE people to attend a worship service on Christmas Eve.  Now some will defend this move as an attempt to control crowd levels or such; but that goes against the very essence of the Christian faith and the nature of cathedrals themselves.  The very reason why we build great churc

Anglicans in the Ambulatory!!!

  This week, a number of Traditionalist Anglican clergy and their Bishop (of Fulham), are on retreat in Rome.  They were invited by the clergy in charge of St. John in Lateran to hold a mass in the "choir" of the cathedral, behind the main altar of the church.  What to many Christians might seem a point of fraternal generosity or a sign of mutual respect; has instead inflamed the passions of a number of Roman Catholic churchmen and laymen across the Christian world.    How dare those silly protestants hold their service in our church???  The claim that is referenced in defending such position, is the old argument that because Pope Leo XIII issued the Papal Bull Apostolicae Curae which claimed Anglican Orders as "utterly null and void"; that this means definitively that Anglican Apostolic succession is indeed null and void.  Unfortunately for my more conservative minded Roman Catholic friends, a Papal Bull is not the law of the church.  There have been many Papal Bul
