Open Letter to the Disney Company

 Mr Iger,

As one who has previously been a subscriber on Disney+ in the recent past for the purpose of enjoying many of the classic Disney Movies; I was deeply disturbed and indeed sickened to see the new revival of the older Disney cartoon “the Proud Family” pursuing a political ideology which is at best false, and at worst seditious and racist.  “Slaves built this country” as a rallying cry for people who claim the right to reparations for the sufferings of others?  By this singular 2 minute point in what is supposed to be a cartoon for children, the Disney corporation is actively encouraging children to hate and despise: their neighbors who may not be the same skin color as themselves, anyone who may be of a different social status than their own even if they are of the same skin color, any and all history which does not bow down and say that it was “all about slavery.”

In the name of supposed equity, the Disney company is promoting a false ideology that says slaves did everything, and therefore deserve everything.   Well sir, that is a slap in the face not only to myself; but to my centuries of ancestors who helped to build this country, and not a slave owner among them.  Shall I pay the so-called debt of slavery on behalf of my Scottish ancestors who came to this country and were forced to till the soil by the sweat of their own brows as sharecroppers, never owning land and having to pay for the privilege of work?  Shall I pay it for my English Ancestors, who were impoverished and kept in poverty by unjust laws preventing land-owning citizens from voting or growing wealth?  Perhaps you’d like me to pay reparations out on behalf of my Cherokee ancestors who were forced off their lands and exiled from their homes so people like your corporation who are obsessed with atoning for your guilt over slavery could build housing projects for their descendents? 

My ancestors were here before those people who were slaves ever set foot on these shores, and we have been bludgeoned over the head ever since with the guilt trip that people who call themselves “progressives” seek to impose on us because we aren’t dark-skinned.   Imposing a system of bias which declares all but those of sub saharan African descent to be racist and guilty of the crimes of slavery is an offensive, and down right damnable act which is not equity, not even equality; it is the promotion of one race as superior to all others for arbitrary justifications which is, by definition, RACISM.   To make it even more damnable, using a purported Children’s show to teach a generation of children who have access to paid internet connection to paid television, that they are oppressed and have to fight against everyone simply because of arbitrary observations of their skin color is an act of abuse; which has only the effect of producing a generation of people who all consider themselves to be victims because of what OTHERS suffered in the past.  

Telling them to demand their “40 acres and a mule”?  How about encouraging them to be the bright and inventive people they can be?  How about encouraging them to stand up and become leaders in government as they can be and many before have been?  How about encouraging them to art, literature, music, and other creative outlets and industries which can build up society as a whole and their own communities?   Oh, I forgot- it’s easier to encourage people to remain in ignorance and hatred of themselves and their neighbors than it is to elevate their minds and to encourage them to what they’re truly capable of.  No, keeping them in the dark mind of a self-perpetuating cycle of racial injustice is easier; because it is the new slavery.  It is the enslavement of the mind where people who preach equity can use the anger and dark emotions of those they inflame to destroy anyone and anything they dislike or disagree with.   It is a slavery not only of the body, but of the heart and mind as well, which is far worse and more impactful on society.   Those  who do these things do not want the descendants of African ancestry to be free, they simply want them to remain slaves on new and more diabolical terms.  

Disney, you are far better than this.

The Commerce of Christ at Christmas?

  In just under a month, Christians will gather in crowded, candlelit churches on Christmas Eve to celebrate the great feast of our Savior's birth.  Recently, some clergy friends of mine have directed me to an interesting little thing that the Episcopal Church's National Cathedral in DC has decided to do for Christmas Eve this year.   Are they going to bring in the homeless so that they have a warm place to sleep that night?  No. Are they going to actually preach the Christ whom they are obliged to by the book of common prayer?  No. Are they going to charge people to attend Christmas Eve Mass and receive Christ?  YES! You heard that correctly, the National Cathedral in Washington, DC; has decided to CHARGE people to attend a worship service on Christmas Eve.  Now some will defend this move as an attempt to control crowd levels or such; but that goes against the very essence of the Christian faith and the nature of cathedrals themselves.  The very reason why we build great churc

Anglicans in the Ambulatory!!!

  This week, a number of Traditionalist Anglican clergy and their Bishop (of Fulham), are on retreat in Rome.  They were invited by the clergy in charge of St. John in Lateran to hold a mass in the "choir" of the cathedral, behind the main altar of the church.  What to many Christians might seem a point of fraternal generosity or a sign of mutual respect; has instead inflamed the passions of a number of Roman Catholic churchmen and laymen across the Christian world.    How dare those silly protestants hold their service in our church???  The claim that is referenced in defending such position, is the old argument that because Pope Leo XIII issued the Papal Bull Apostolicae Curae which claimed Anglican Orders as "utterly null and void"; that this means definitively that Anglican Apostolic succession is indeed null and void.  Unfortunately for my more conservative minded Roman Catholic friends, a Papal Bull is not the law of the church.  There have been many Papal Bul
